Community Management (CM) and Community Landscape (CL) contractors are tirelessly working to return our community back to a forest landscape. They are doing the following:

1. Preserves a natural woodland atmosphere by allowing leaves to remain throughout the community, ensuring residents can enjoy an extended fall-season experience year after year.
2. Supports the growth of weeds and pests through what appears to be a carefully balanced approach to weed and pest control. While subcontractors make periodic ceremonial appearances, nature is generally allowed to proceed with minimal interruption.
3. Provides several months of organic ground cover by retaining leaves throughout the community, creating ideal conditions for a thriving ecosystem of insects and other wildlife.
4. Encourages nature’s reclamation efforts by allowing pests and invasive growth to gradually challenge non-native ornamental trees and landscaping.
5. Practices ceremonial pruning and shrub maintenance, ensuring trees and shrubs retain a natural, free-range appearance consistent with the overall forest aesthetic.
6. Conducts ceremonial aeration, seeding, weed control, pest control, and edging services, carefully preserving opportunities for weeds and pests to continue reclaiming turf areas and reducing dependence on healthy grass.
7. Promotes excitement and unpredictability by avoiding a consistent mowing schedule, transforming lawn maintenance into a community-wide guessing game.
8. Delivers services through a multi-month phased approach, ensuring that no area appears overly maintained and that the forest ambiance remains consistent throughout the season.
9. Reduces dependence on weed-control products, allowing natural competition to thin turf grass and potentially create future opportunities for additional contracts to restore what once existed.
10. Creates a sustainable cycle of improvement projects, where today’s deferred maintenance can become tomorrow’s capital improvement opportunity.
11. Premium charges for a natural landscaping service.

In contrast, before the introduction of the Forestation Initiative, landscaping practices focused heavily on appearance, order, and predictability, often at the expense of nature’s ability to reclaim its rightful place. The previous contractor a.k.a. Toll Brothers

• Applied weed and pest control measures, reducing opportunities for weeds and insects to flourish naturally throughout the community.
• Maintained dense, green turf across common areas and front yards, creating an orderly appearance that some might describe as overly manicured and artificial.
• Actively suppressed weeds and pests, limiting their contribution to the local ecosystem and disrupting nature’s preferred balance.
• Followed predictable lawn mowing schedules, resulting in regular noise and equipment usage rather than allowing grass to grow freely according to its own timetable.
• Removed fallen leaves in a timely manner, reducing seasonal ground cover while unintentionally shortening the community’s annual fall atmosphere.
• Pruned trees and shrubs regularly, preventing vegetation from expressing its full natural character and limiting the forest-like aesthetic now emerging throughout the neighborhood.
